The barn and its idyllic surroundings are in the grounds of Dorset House School – one of the oldest prep schools in the country. Steeped in history, records of the manor date back to the Domesday Book. Bury Manor has had many incarnations, from a monastic building in the 12th century to a traditional manor house and a popular Edwardian house party retreat from London. This is an incredibly individual and special venue.

Bury Manor Barn comes with an abundance of wonderful spaces to enjoy throughout your wedding day. The amphitheatre is a beautiful place to mingle with plenty of lighting for enjoying the evening outdoors. The Walled Garden is a peaceful space that’s ideal for guests to congregate and capture group shots. If you’re looking for more beautiful spots for your photos, the avenue of beech trees in the woodland area or the tranquil pond with the weeping willow hanging down from above make the perfect spots. Finally, the Champagne reception area for your drinks reception and take in the elevated views of Amberley Castle and the South Downs.

One of the outstanding features of this venue is the fact that you can choose which ceremony you prefer. If a church wedding is for you, the 12th century Church of St John the Evangelist which is next door to Bury Manor Barn. After the service, photographs can be taken against a range of stunning backdrops including the banks of the River Arun. The wedding party can walk along a pretty stone path and through a gate onto a terrace which is ideal for a Champagne reception; guests can park at the venue and walk to church and avoid having to drive from the church to the reception.

Civil ceremonies take place in the inner barn with stunning views across the River Arun to Amberley Castle and the South Downs beyond. Humanist and other celebrant led ceremonies can be held in the amphitheatre, the Walled Garden or even the woods.

Bury Manor Barn is the perfect venue for all seasons and each has its own distinct appeal. In spring, two perfect magnolia trees frame the entrance to the barn and while the grounds burst into life and colour. The summer months are incredible for humanist ceremonies. Guests can take a seat in the sun and enjoy views of the River Arun and hills beyond while you exchange your vows. Autumn sees the trees in the grounds turn wonderful shades and the barns looks incredible when decorated in seasonal tones. In winter, twinkling fairy lights and a roaring log fire make the barn the best place for a cosy winter wedding.

Bury Manor Barn is easily accessible by road and is on a quiet lane just off the A29. The closest railway station is Amberley but Pulborough offers a more frequent service. From here it is 1 hour 15 mins to London Victoria and 40 minutes to Gatwick Airport. The coast can be reached in just 15 minutes away.
