The birthplace of Dick Whittington, Pauntley Court is a beloved family home that can be exclusively yours for celebrations that last for days on end. This charming rural estate sits in idyllic Gloucestershire countryside and also lies on the Herefordshire and Worcestershire borders. What’s more, it’s reachable from London and just an hour from Birmingham and Bristol too. When you celebrate your wedding here, the magnificent manor house, the Elinor Fettiplace wing of the main house and the Dovecote, can all be exclusively yours for three days and two nights.
This private venue blends understated elegance, with a dash of quirkiness, making it a home from home and giving any couple the chance to spend three whole days with their families and friends. Views from every window are across farmland and the exquisite gardens that surround the house. The Hornbeam Cloisters, Sunken Garden and Yew Garden all offer wonderful places to spend time with your loved ones and are perfect for romantic photographs too.
Pauntley Court offers a choice of different locations where you can say ‘I do’. The stunning Ballroom is licensed for up to 50 guests which makes it perfect for an intimate civil ceremony in spectacular surroundings. If you are planning to have a blessing or humanist ceremony, you’ll find plenty of idyllic settings within the gardens where you can exchange your vows.
After a gentle stroll the gardens, you’ll find an enchanting Norman church, right next door to the venue. St John the Evangelist can accommodate up to 130 guests and welcomes couples from outside the parish providing they attend the church six times before their wedding day.
Wherever you decide to tie the knot, there is no better way to celebrate afterwards than with a drinks reception. In the spring and summer months, you can enjoy drinks and canapés in the sunshine in your favourite part of the gardens. The venue can also provide a large stretch tent for you and your guests to gather under if the weather isn’t great. For smaller gatherings of up to 50, you can take your reception inside and mingle in the glorious Panelled Room instead if you prefer.
Pauntley Court caters for wedding receptions both large and small, with the Ball Room perfect for intimate wedding breakfasts and space in the grounds for a marquee that caters for up to 150. You can choose between the Sunken Garden or down by the lake to position your marquee, and both locations boast stunning views of the Gloucestershire countryside.
After your celebrations have drawn to an end, you and your nearest and dearest can retire to the ten beautifully appointed bedrooms on offer. With the finest bed linen, towels and dressing gowns, and even fresh flowers in every room, you couldn’t find a better place to relax after an amazing day. Each bedroom is individually designed and has all the modern luxuries you would expect from a five-star hotel, without losing any of the charm and character of the house.
